Conditionally Exempt Composting Operation Notification Form (December 2011)
For composting operations located at industrial, commercial or institutional sites or zoos that compost less than four cubic yards (or two tons) per week of vegetative materials, food materials or animal manures generated on-site.

Beverage Container Redemption Centers
Under 301 CMR 4.06, any person may establish a redemption center and has the right to determine what types, sizes and brands of beverage containers the facility will accept. The owner or operator of a redemption center is required to notify MassDEP at least ten (10) business days in advance of commencing operations and to provide the agency with updated information twice per year (by January 1 and July 1).

Redemption centers are also required to advise consumers that it is illegal to redeem containers originally purchased in other states for deposit refunds in Massachusetts. Most do this by posting signs.
