Municipal Waste Reduction Toolkit

Recycling LogoThe toolkit includes a variety of materials and resources to assist municipal recycling coordinators in maximizing the success of local waste reduction programs. Each module contains a step-by-step guide, case studies, outreach material templates, and more. Many of these materials were developed by Massachusetts municipal recycling coordinators and used to implement successful waste reduction programs.

The module contains information on writing effective press releases and using public service announcements (PSA). It also includes a Monthly Outreach Planner containing print PSAs, radio PSAs, press releases and articles that may be customized and submitted to your local newspaper or radio station.

Module 5: Zero Waste

Earth


Zero Waste is a "whole system" approach to resource management that maximizes recycling, minimizes waste, reduces consumption and ensures that products are made to be reused, repaired or recycled back into nature or the marketplace.  This module introduces the concept of Zero Waste and provides tools to promote a community wide dialogue on the principles of Zero Waste.
