MassDEP is pleased to announce the receipt of an additional $753,606 dollars for the 604(b) competitive grant program.

Clean & Drinking Water State Revolving Fund

The Massachusetts State Revolving Funds provides low-cost financing to help community public water suppliers comply with federal and state clean water and drinking water requirements. Approximately $182 million ($134 for Clean Water projects and $52 million for Drinking Water projects) will be available to Massachusetts to distribute to numerous projects across the Commonwealth.

Diesel Emissions Reductions

Massachusetts has developed a ten-point action plan, including retrofits of all school and transit buses by 2010, to immediately reduce the public health impacts of diesel pollution.

Leaking Underground Storage Tanks

MassDEP expects to use approximately $3.2 million in stimulus money to fund the remediation of known storage tanks buried underground that are or have been compromised, leaking petroleum into the environment.

Superfund Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup

Massachusetts may be allocated approximately $15 million for the assessment and remediation of federally listed abandoned hazardous waste sites that poses a current or future threat to human health or the environment. This money will be spent directly by EPA and their contractors.

Homeowner's Certification Form: BWSC 120

Some homeowners qualify for reduced permit and annual compliance fees. Qualifying homeowners must submit a certification on a MassDEP approved form to realize the reduction in fees.

Section 319 Nonpoint Source Competitive Grants Program

Funds projects that address the prevention, control, and abatement of nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. A 40% match is required from the grantee. Requests for Proposals are generally issued in Spring.

Section 604b Grant Program Water Quality Management Planning

Funds projects for water quality assessment and management planning. Eligible entities include: regional planning agencies, councils of governments, conservation districts, counties, cities and towns, and other substate public planning agencies and interstate agencies. No local match is required. Requests for Proposals are generally issued in mid-October.
