Overview of Recent MassDEP Sewer Regulation Revisions

A summary of the background to, and the goals and content of, MassDEP's revisions to its regulations at 314 CMR 7.00, which govern sewer extensions and sewer connections of sanitary and industrial wastewater discharges. These revisions to the sewer regulations went into effect on January 12, 2007. While the substance of the presentation is the same for each region, the region-specific version includes a list of MassDEP contacts that region for answering questions about sanitary and industrial wastewater sewer connections.

MassDEP Candid Camera Initiative Update

This presentation summarizes the background to, the goals of, and an update on MassDEP's "Candid Camera" initiative, which uses survelliance cameras to catch illegal dumpers in the act and to penalize them. The presentation includes information on how municipalities may request MassDEP's assistance in targeting illegal dumpers in their communities and to establish their own survelliance camera programs, and contains depictions and descriptions of the range of equipment available for use in the program.

Title 5 Back to Basics and a Title 5 Plan Checklist

This presentation provides a refresher course for local board of health officials on the site evaluation, design, permitting, and inspection provisions of the MassDEP regulations at 310 CMR 15.000 governing on-site sewage disposal systems (Title 5). Also included is a detailed checklist for use by board of health officials in reviewing the adequacy of plans for systems requesting permit approval under Title 5.
