Managing Lead Shot at Ranges MassDEP estimates that there are more than 150 active outdoor ranges where lead shot is present. Many ranges are in sensitive wildlife habitats, such as wetlands. With decades of use, ranges can accumulate tons of lead shot. If improperly managed, lead shot poses a threat to the environment and public.
To assist shooting sports clubs in taking steps toward improving management of lead shot and other environmental issues, the Massachusetts Lead Shot Initiative has compiled the following publication:
