DPH Testing of Perchlorate in Bottled Water
In June 2004, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) began perchlorate monitoring of bottled water offered for sale in Massachusetts. If you are a consumer who needs information on a particular brand of bottled water sold in Massachusetts please go to the DPH website referenced below. DPH has published a consumer chart of perchlorate-testing data submitted to their Food Protection Program from permitted bottled water companies.

Although the DPH consumer chart is an appropriate reference for individual bottled water consumers in Massachusetts who seek information on perchlorate test results for bottled water; it should not be solely used by Public Water Suppliers that are required by MassDEP to provide bottled water to their customers. If you are a Public Water Supplier that is required by MassDEP to supply bottled water to your customers in an emergency situation you must also check with your MassDEP regional office or Joe Cerutti of the Boston office at 617-292-5859 or joseph.cerutti@state.ma.us to receive an up-to-date list of bottled water sources that MassDEP has determined do not contain detectable concentrations of perchlorate.
