Transient Non-Community Systems Annual Water Quality Reports for Calendar Year 2008
Drinking Water: Transient Non-Community Annual Reports
Cover letter accompanying annual water quality reports

August 3, 2009

Re: Annual Water Quality Report for CY 2008

Dear Transient Non-Community Public Water System:

Transient Non-Community Public Water Systems (TNC) are required by MA Drinking Water Regulations, 310 CMR 22.16A(23) and the Guidelines and Policies for Public Water Systems, Appendix M, to post an annual water quality report. Attached to this letter is your facility's annual report of your water quality for calendar year 2008.

This annual report identifies your facility as a public water system registered with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). It provides information on how your system complied with the drinking water contaminant requirements, explains possible sources of contamination, lists the name and phone number of the owner or person responsible for the system, and lists your response to any violations. If you need to post a Tier 3 Public Notice, this annual report may also meet these requirements.

You, as the owner of a TNC, are required to:

1. Review your attached annual report.

2. If the information is correct you must do the following:

  • fill in your facility's certified operator's name and license number
  • have your operator sign the report
  • sign your name
  • post the report in a conspicuous location(s) visible to both employees and customers

OR

3. If you believe the information is incorrect:

  • you must contact MassDEP by August 31, 2009.

MassDEP will make corrections deemed necessary and provide a final report for posting. All requests for corrections must be made in writing and postmarked no later than August 31, 2009 to the following address: MassDEP Drinking Water Program; One Winter Street, 5th Floor; Boston, MA 02108; Attention: TNC CCR.

There is no monetary cost to comply with this annual water quality report requirement. MassDEP staff will check to see if your report is posted as required during any visits or audits. MassDEP also expects that the local board of health will evaluate your report when issuing local permits or licenses.

For questions on your report, please contact Marie Tennant at 617-292-5885 or e-mail MassDEP's Drinking Water Program at Program.Director-DWP@state.ma.us.

Sincerely,

Dave Y. Terry, Program Director
Drinking Water Program
