Final Revisions to Drinking Water Regulations (310 CMR 22.00), July 2006
MassDEP has updated the version of the Massachusetts Drinking Water Regulations, 310 CMR 22.00, that is available on its web page. MassDEP encourages all public water systems to download a copy of the updated regulations at http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/laws/regulati.htm#dw
This updated version includes the perchlorate standard, which was promulgated on July 28, 2006, and the minor corrections package, which was promulgated on November 3, 2006. The perchlorate regulations established a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 2.0 ppb for perchlorate, replacing the interim drinking water guidance of 1.0 ppb. The minor corrections package included corrections made by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to their rules and requirements arising out of changes to analytical methods, changes to rules, and technical corrections. These revisions include corrections to 310 CMR 22.02, 22.04, 22.05, 22.06, 22.06B, 22.07, 22.07A, 22.07E, 22.09, 22.09A, 22.13, 22.14, 22.15, 22.16, 22.16A, 22.19, 22.20A, 22.20B, 22.20F, and 22.21, which were incorporated into the Massachusetts Drinking Water Regulations to comply with state primacy for these rules. A correction to 310 CMR 22.05 was also made to clarify that all systems that provide any type of treatment to their source are required to conduct raw water monitoring. Technical corrections were also made to 310 CMR 22.22, the state requirements for cross connection control.
