Water Quality Monitoring Strategy for Massachusetts

The purpose of this document is to establish criteria for assessing the degree of impairment in Massachusetts waterbodies, including streams, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, wetlands, estuaries, coastal areas, and groundwater, based on requirements established by federal law and EPA guidance. 2004 Bacteria Source Tracking Pilot Study

A new cost effective protocol for tracking down sources of bacteria in rivers and streams. A pilot study was conducted in five selected subwatersheds of the Blackstone and Sudbury Watersheds from April to October 2004. November 2005.

Enhancing the Bacterial Source-Tracking Toolkit: A Collaborative Approach

Recognizing the need to find and eliminate sources of bacterial contamination to surface waters in Massachusetts, MassDEP, WES, CZM, USGS, and EPA are developing a set of tools to identify those sources.
