Working for Wildlife: MassWildlife's Habitat Programs

MassWildlife works to restore and manage critical habitats to help conserve the diversity of wildlife and plant communities in the Commonwealth for generations to come.

Although land protection is a centerpiece of the Commonwealth’s conservation strategy, protection alone is not enough for long-term conservation of biological diversity in Massachusetts. Some species and community types need direct intervention to remove invasive plants or restore natural processes. Habitat restoration and management activities benefit wildlife and people by providing quality outdoor recreation including walking, hiking, hunting, fishing, trapping, and wildlife viewing.
