The Commissioner's
Office also includes the Riverways Programs, the Habitat Protection Program
and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program as well as providing Human Resources support. The GIS Program collects and analyzes natural resource data via the integration of computer mapping and data collection technology. This technology is then used to identify and protect critical natural resources and the habitats upon which they depend. The Habitat Protection Program involves the acquisition of conservation land focusing on the protection of significant habitat. The Clean Vessels Act Program (link to our Division of Marine Fisheries site) builds coastal pumpout stations both afloat and ashore thereby decreasing the flow of raw sewage into our harbors and waterways. The Human Resources Office - Employment Opportunities with the Department and its Divisions. Finally, the Commissioner's Office functions as a catalyst for the resolution of problems and the creation of innovative ways to protect the state's natural heritage. Contact InformationCommissioner
