  arrow Message from the Commissioner:

I’m proud to announce that the Wetlands Restoration Program and the Riverways Program have merged to create a new Division of Ecological Restoration. The Division is a first-in-the-nation, government based effort to address ecological restoration comprehensively. It strongly complements the Department of Fish and Game goals to manage, protect and conserve fish and wildlife habitat.

This is an exciting change that will have a long-lasting impact to Massachusetts wetlands, rivers and watersheds. With over 80 projects underway including dam removals, culvert replacements and stream naturalizations the Division has hit the ground running. We look forward to maintaining our strong partnerships with federal agencies, municipalities, watershed groups, land trusts and non-profits to protect and restore the diversity of aquatic habitats in Massachusetts from the Berkshires to Cape Cod.

Sincerely,
Mary Griffin
