Parker River Clean Water Association / Town of Georgetown
Water Balance, Well Pumping and Streamflow Analysis of the Upper Parker River
The Parker River Clean Water Association has been working with the RIFLS program to monitor streamflow up- and down-stream of the Georgetown well field to gain a better understanding of the impact of the wellfield on recurring severe low streamflows in the Parker River. This project provided an analysis of annual groundwater recharge in the Upper Parker River watershed, a seasonal analysis of stream depletion due to the operation of the town’s water supply wells, and an assessment of the river’s departure from “natural” stream flow. The report also includes recommendations for stream flow restoration in the section of river that has run dry several times.
