158Site ID:RockportTown:3.8Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectLowPriority:Site is Camborne Pond (a.k.a. Henrys Pond) north of Pebble Beach and Penzance Road. The pond lies within the coastal flood velocity zone and experiences frequent storm overwarsh. Approximately 4 acres of wetland habitats are contained within the site. A prior tidal restriction inventory done by Eight Towns & the Bay found a 32-inch aluminum culvert opening on the upstream side; the downstream end was not located and presumed buried. GIS analysis and site observation indicate that the pond currently does not receive any tidal influence except during overwash events. No culvert ends were located in 2005. Stands of Phragmites fringe the pond edge. Further assessment is needed to evaluate the ecological condition of the site and potential benefits and detriments of converting the wetland to a tidally-influenced system. Restoration actions would replace the old culvert with a new structure designed to prevent clogging and to restore tidal exchange to the site. Restoration potential is considered low based on the highly dynamic nature of the area, unclear effects to the site from lack of tidal exchange, and likley difficult and costly design and construction to install a structure that could maintain proper function over the long term.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
