260Site ID:RowleyTown:13.9Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectMediumPriority:Site is located in the Mill Creek Wildlife Management Area and is owned and managed by the MA Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. GIS analysis and site observation indicate that ~14 acres of marsh are degraded from restricted tidal flow. The marsh receives substantial freshwater inputs from the surrounding watershed and exhibits indicators of degradation, including large stands of Phragmites and high-tide bush growing within central portions of the marsh. The tidal creek within the marsh is substantially clogged with peat and significant amounts of old woody debris, including old stumps and logs with unknown origin. The mouth of the creek at its intersection with a tidal river to the east was completely clogged with peat during the site visit in 2005. Restoration actions would include extensive ditch cleaning to restore full tidal exchange between the river and upstream marsh. Restoration potential is considered medium based on the ownership by DFW and relative ease of ditch cleaning to enhance tidal flushing. The Mosquito Control District may be well suited to conducting this restoration work.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
