326Site ID:SalisburyTown:1.2Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectLowPriority:This site consists of a small wetland area between Route 1 and the abandoned railroad bed, just north of the Merrimack River. It is assumed that a culvert beneath the railroad bed drains the marsh and possibly conveys some level of tidal influence. The site was not inspected in the field. It is likely that the marsh is restricted or blocked from tidal flow by the RR bed. Based on its position adjacent to tidal marshes to the west, the marsh was probably tidal before the railroad was built. A site visit and assessment of the site's hydrology is needed to determine the impact of the RR bed and to evaluate restoration options. Restoration potential is considered low due to the relatively small size of the upstream marsh and the high per-acre cost that would be required to modify or replace a culvert beneath the RR bed.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
