422Site ID:GloucesterTown:0.6Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectLowPriority:Site consists of ~0.5 acre of historically-altered salt marsh between Route 127A and the Stop & Shop plaza to the north. GIS analysis indicates that a portion of the site was excavated to create a small open water pond with a berm and outlet at its western edge. A site visit was not conducted. Spoils from the excavation may have been placed on the marsh surface west of the pond. An old building foundation is located on top of the filled marsh area. Phragmites appears to be growing around the pond fringe. Restoration actions would remove fill from the marsh surface to restore wetland soils, hydrology, and vegetation. The excavated area could also be filled back in to restore additional marsh. Historic tidal ditches should also be cleaned out to restore full tidal exchange between the tidal creek and this site. Restoration potential is considered low based on the small area of opportunity and likely high per-acre costs of fill removal and other earth work.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
