57Site ID:NewburyTown:0.9Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectLowPriority:Site consists of a small 1-acre marsh upstream of Route 1. The marsh is owned by the Governor Dummer School. GIS analysis and site observation indicate that the culvert beneath Route 1 likely restricts tidal flow to the upstream marsh. The existing culvert is partially clogged with sediment and is likely too small to pass the full tidal range. It appears to be in fair condition with no obvious signs of structural problems. A tidal survey would be needed to verify whether the culvert restricts tidal flow. Restoration actions would replace the culvert with a larger pipe to restore full tidal flows to the upstream marsh. Restoration potential is considered low based on the relatively small area of upstream marsh and the high costs that would be associated with replacing a culvert beneath Route 1. When the existing culvert eventually requires replacement for structural reasons, it should be thoroughly assessed for restoration potential.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
