82Site ID:IpswichTown:4Acres:NoRapid Technical Site Assessment:RestrictionFillAgricultureOtherCompleted ProjectLowPriority:Site consists of ~4 acres of former salt marsh south of the closed Ipswich landfill and west of Town Farm Road. GIS analysis and site observation indicate that this site is historically-filled salt marsh associated with the town landfill. The 1912 Coastal Survey map shows the entire site as salt marsh. Refuse observed throughout the site surface and the un-natural linear nature of the site's southern edge also suggest the presence of fill within historic salt marsh. Association of this site with the landfill closure plans was not investigated. Restoration actions would include removal of fill and waste material down to historic salt marsh grade to restore wetland soils, hydrology, and vegetation. The excavated fill and waste material could be incorporated into the closed landfill. Restoration potential is considered low based on the likely presence of solid waste material throughout the site. There is also a potential for discovery of hazardous materials if this site is in fact part of the historic landfill. Many factors associated with potential landfill alteration make any restoration potential highly uncertain. However, it is recommended that the town of Ipswich further investigate conditions within the site to determine whether it was addressed appropriately during the landfill closure process.Site Summary:Under DevelopmentImpact Type(s)StatusPotential Project
