WCE Public Access Plans
The Division of Fisheries & Wildlife (DFW) holds Wildlife Conservation Easements (WCEs) over many properties across the state. Most of these WCEs provide for public access for hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, wildlife observation, and other forms of passive recreation.
- All WCEs are also considered Wildlife Management Areas, and are subject to DFW’s regulation governing the usage of such areas. See 321 CMR 3.01 et seq.
- Some of these WCEs are illustrated on maps available on our website.
- The Paul C. Jones Working Forest WCE, located in Leverett and Shutesbury, has a specific public access plan that clarifies public access rights and responsibilities.
