Habitat Management

Wildlife depends on the 4 essential building blocks that comprise habitat: food, water, shelter and space. The way in which those elements are arranged is also important to wildlife. Some kinds of wildlife have very specific habitat needs, while other types thrive in a number of habitats. MassWildlife is actively involved in managing habitat for the benefit of many kinds of wildlife on its Wildlife Management Areas. There are also opportunities for public and private landowners to actively manage their lands for wildlife with advice, assistance and sometimes funding from the agency.
