Small Research Contracts
NHESP
sponsors a Small Research Contract (SRC) program which typically funds
several dozen research projects each field season focused on biological
conservation priorities. These projects vary from radio telemetry tracking
of rare turtles to searches for old growth forest remnants to genetic
research on rare plant species. Research and inventory proposals are
solicited in January each year and contracts are awarded in March.
For 2008 we have projects in the Housatonic River Watershed and for
several U.S. Army Corps of Engineers properties.
Please see our request for proposals. Application deadline is February
22nd.
Small Research Contracts Program -2008 Request for Proposals
Many reports of rare species occurrences are turned in by non-staff biologists, amateur naturalists or observant members of the public. If you have observed a Massachusetts rarity and can document the observation with a map and photos, video or audio tape, please let us know about it! Download an observation form or contact the NHESP Database Manager at (508) 389-6368.
