Broodstock Salmon
These are "retired" broodstock Atlantic Salmon raised at hatcheries in both Massachusetts and Vermont as part of the Connecticut River Atlantic Salmon restoration program. Once these fish are no longer productive egg layers, they are stocked into selected lakes and ponds throughout the state. Stocking usually occurs in winter and sometimes early spring.
