Antlerless Deer Permit Drawing Details:

If the last digit of your Hunting or Sporting License matches a number drawn for the Wildlife Management Zone (WMZ) for which you applied, you will receive a postcard notification that you are eligible for an Antlerless Deer Permit for that WMZ. If you match the Partial Number, the number of randomly selected applicants is indicated in the table of winning numbers.  (Note: Not every applicant with the partial number will receive a Permit.)

All selected applicants will be notified of their permit by green postcard in mid-August. To ensure receipt of the permit by archery season, postcard and $5 fee must be returned to "MassWildlife FHQ, 1 Rabbit Hill Road, Westborough, MA 01581" by September 3.

Permits will be sent out in a mass mailing to those people who turned in their green postcard and fee by the early September deadline in a mass mailing in time for the archery season.

Applicants not selected for their WMZ of choice will have first option to re-apply for permits in WMZs where allocations exceeded applications. Those white postcards will abe mailed in mid-August. Due to a limited number of permits available in certain WMZs, re-applicants should send in their postcards as soon as possible since re-applicant requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The final option for obtaining a permit, or acquiring additional permits, will occur October 6 when remaining permits will be available for sale at several location throughout the state. More details will be forthcoming on this process. Each antlerless deer permit will come with an antlerless deer tag, increasing the hunter's bag limit for antlerless deer by the number of permits possessed.

Antlerless Deer Permit Drawing Event, July 31, 2008

Every year MassWildlife holds a public drawing to determine who will receive an Antlerless Deer permit for particular hunting zones throughout the state. The Antlerless Deer Permit Drawing will take place on July 31 beginning at 5 PM at the Lenox Sportsman's Club, 258 New Lenox Rd, Lenox. This year, the Gun Owner's Action League is partnering with MassWildlife on a new format for this event which includes a Game Recipe Contest, a presentation on deer management in Massachusetts, drawing of the winning Antlerless Deer Permit numbers and announcing the Game Recipe Contest Winners. Proceeds from the Game Recipe Contest will benefit the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp. For more details on the event including Recipe Contest registration, visit the Gun Owner's Action League Website .
