Massachusetts Waterfowl Stamp
All
waterfowlers must purchase a federal and state waterfowl stamp (duck
stamp) before hunting. The state stamp runs during the calendar year,
expiring on the last day of the calendar year. The state stamp is NOT
required for hunting woodcock, rails, snipe or American coot.
Artists interested in entering the state Waterfowl Stamp Competition may download the Waterfowl Stamp Contest Guidelines. A youth version of this contest, Mass. Junior Duck Stamp Program, is open to young people from grades K-12.
MIGRATORY BIRD HUNTERS NEED TO GET HIP!
If you plan to hunt ducks, geese, sea ducks, brant, woodcock, snipe or rails, you must have a H.I.P. number (Harvest Information Program). We need your cooperation to gather the information needed to conserve and manage our waterfowl, woodcock, snipe and rail populations. You will need a new HIP number each calendar year.
- If you buy your hunting license online and purchase a waterfowl stamp online via MassOutdoors, your HIP number will automatically be assigned to you online.
- If you buy your hunting license online, but purchase a waterfowl stamp over-the-counter from a license vendor (town clerk, sporting goods store, MassWildlife facility, etc), you may only get a HIP number by calling 1/800 WETLAND. Write the HIP number on your MassOutdoors license. If you have a problem with the WETLAND number, call customer service toll free at 1/888-764-7343. The HIP system cannot issue you a new HIP number for the New Year until January 1. If customer service is unable to resolve your problem, please call the MassWildlife Westboro office at 508/389-6300 during business hours.
