The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) has scheduled a public meeting to present rules and regulations for Merrimack River estuary soft-shell clam harvesting.

Depuration harvesting in the Merrimack River estuary is set to begin in November. Prior to the reopening, this meeting will review MarineFisheries moderately contaminated harvest requirements, rules, regulations (322 CMR 7.00, 322 CMR 10.00), and area conditions, seasons and boundaries. In addition, local rules and regulations will be presented along with applicable Department of Public Health regulations. All potential diggers and dealers interested in participating in this re-established fishery are encouraged to attend this meeting.

A public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, October 27, 2005 (5PM) at the Newburyport City Hall Auditorium (60 Pleasant Street, Newburyport).
