COMMERCIAL BLACK SEA BASS SEASON RE-OPENS AUGUST 1ST
Effective August 1st, the 2006 commercial black sea bass fishery will re-open at a 500-lb. possession limit in the directed sea bass pot fishery and weir fishery, a 100-lb. possession limit in the commercial lobster trap fishery, and a 200-lb. possession limit for all other gear types. The fishery has been closed since June 13th when the Division of Marine Fisheries projected that 50% of the 2006 annual black sea bass quota would have been reached by Monday, June 12, 2006. Fishermen are reminded that the landing and/or possession of black sea bass on Fridays and Saturdays is prohibited.
