On August 10th, 2006, the Division of Marine Fisheries’(DMF) South Shore Field Station moved from it’s previous Pocasset office to a new location in New Bedford. Mayor Lang and the city of New Bedford are hosting DMF employees in the city’s newly renovated Quest Center as part of DMF’s developing partnership in the Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Institute (MFI). The MFI is a partnership formed in 2002 between the DMF and the University of Massachusetts’ Intercampus Graduate School for Marine Science & Technology (SMAST) to promote sustainable fisheries by
providing timely information and guidance to protect, conserve, and manage Massachusetts' marine and coastal resources.
