Commercial TAUTOG fishery to close SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) has projected that 100% of the Commonwealth’s 2008 commercial tautog quota will be taken by October 10, 2008. Consequently, commercial fishermen are prohibited from landing or possessing tautog effective 0001 hours on Saturday, October 11th.

Dealers are reminded that it is unlawful to purchase tautog from Massachusetts commercial fishermen when the fishery is closed. The recreational fishery remains open with a 3-tautog possession limit per day.

Quota totals and regulations can be monitored through the MarineFisheries web site.
