REMINDER OF SPINY DOGFISH LIMIT INCREASE &
OPENING OF FALL TAUTOG COMMERCIAL FISHERY
Spiny Dogfish
Beginning Septembr 1, 2008 the spiny dogfish daily limit shall be 2,000-lbs. and will remain in until MarineFisheries determines that 58% of the annual ASMFC approved regional quota of 8-million lbs. has been reached. This trip limit applies to permit holders who do not possess federal permits. Federally permitted fishermen are prohibited from possession or landing dogfish through October 31st.
Tautog
The fall commercial tautog season opens on September 1st with a 40-fish per 24-hour day possession limit. The fishery will remain open until November 30th or the 64,753-lb. quota has been reached. To date 28% of the annual quota has been harvested.
