MarineFisheries is issuing this final notice of northern shrimp fishery management measures approved by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries (ASMFC) Northern Shrimp Section and Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission. The 2009/2010 northern shrimp fishery will open at 0001 hours on Tuesday, December 1, 2008 and close on Saturday, May 29, 2009 (open seven days a week).

Commercial fishermen are reminded of various gear restrictions (see 322 CMR 5.00), including a minimum mesh size of 1 ¾”, required use of a Nordmore Grate System, as well as a prohibition on mechanical devices used to cull, grade, separate, or shake shrimp.
