The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) is providing this notice of regulatory measures in effect for the 2009 sea herring fishery in Management Area 1A (see map below):

June 1 - September 30 (until further notice): Vessels may land sea herring on Mondays and Tuesdays (only one landing per day) until further notice. Vessels would be allowed to fish on Wednesdays – Sundays but prohibited from landing fish. MA, NH and ME will meet on July 9 th to assess catch rates and landings relative to the Area 1A quota to consider whether days per week should be changed. Vessels participating in other fisheries may retain an incidental catch of herring that does not exceed more than 2,000 lbs of herring per trip.
