The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) is providing this notice of regulatory measures in effect for the 2009 sea herring fishery in Management Area 1A (see map below):

Vessels may land sea herring on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays (only one landing per day) until further notice. Vessels would be allowed to fish on Thursdays – Sundays but prohibited from landing fish.

MA, NH and ME will hold a conference call on September 17th to assess catch rates and landings relative to the Area 1A quota to consider whether days per week should be changed.

Vessels participating in other fisheries may retain an incidental catch of herring that does not exceed more than 2,000 lbs of herring per trip.
