MFC APPROVES 2010 SPINY DOGFISH SPECIFICATIONS
Fishery to open May 1st at 3,000-lbs
Beginning May 1, 2010 the daily limit for spiny dogfish shall be 3,000 lbs. This 3,000 lbs. trip limit will remain in effect until MarineFisheries determines that 58% of the annual ASMFC-approved regional quota of 15-million lbs. has been reached. The fishery will remain closed through April 30, 2010.
State trip limits apply to all permit holders (state and federal) landing in the Commonwealth. When 58% of the interstate plan quota is reached, MarineFisheries will close the fishery, and all retention and landings of dogfish (by state or federal permit holders) will be prohibited in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the end of the fishing year.
