MarineFisheries Advisory
COMMERCIAL SCUP POSSESSION LIMIT INCREASED TO 2,000-LBS AND
NO-
FISHING DAYS ELIMINTATED BEGINNING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2010
The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) is eliminating no fishing days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and increasing the commercial scup possession limit to 2,000 pounds effective 0001 hours Saturday, October 2, 2010 through October 31, 2010 (the end of the summer/fall quota period), or until this period’s quota is reached. This action will improve the probability of landing the 897,550-lbs May-October commercial quota.
On November 1, the federally managed Winter II period opens and a federal trip limit of 2,000 lbs has been established. The Massachusetts’ Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission meeting will vote to approve this measure for state waters on October 7, 2010.
