On December 30, 2011, the National Marine Fisheries Service approved a 50,000 lb trip limit for scup during the 2012 Winter I period (January 1 – April 30).  This trip limit is effective January 1, 2012.  The Winter I trip limit will be reduced to 1,000 lb once 80% of the period’s allocation of 12,589,558 lbs is harvested.

The Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) will take comment on the Winter I scup trip limit through 4:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2012.  The Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission will review comment and vote by fax poll to establish the Winter I trip limits for Massachusetts.
