The 2011/2012 spiny dogfish quota for the Period 1 fishery is projected to be harvested by the end of the fishing day on Thursday, August 25, 2011.  Effective at 0001 hours on Friday, August 26, 2011, the possession and landing of spiny dogfish by commercial fishermen shall be prohibited.  The Period 1 fishery is scheduled to re-open on May 1, 2012.  The overall 2011/2012 spiny dogfish quota was set at 20-million lb., with the Period 1 fishery being allocated 58% or the overall harvest, for a total of 11,580,000 lbs.
