2012 Recreational Regulations for Black Sea Bass, Scup and Fluke


The Commonwealth’s Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission met on March 12, 2012 and approved proposed recreational scup, black sea bass, and fluke regulations for 2012. Due to the late timing of this action, MarineFisheries is enacting emergency regulations for the upcoming season.  The 2012 black sea bass, scup and fluke recreational fishing seasons, bag limits and size limits for are:

Black Sea Bass Season Size Bag Limit
All Modes May 11 - June 24
June 25 - October 31

Fluke Season Size Bag Limit
  May 22 - September 30 16.5" 5 fish

 

Scup Season Size Bag Limit
Private Angler May 1 - December 31 10.5" 20 fish/angler or 100 scup/vessel w/6 or more anglers
For-Hire May 1 - May 10
June 25 - December 31

Be advised that a public hearing and public comment period will be scheduled in the coming weeks to take comments on these fishing limits.
