Loligo Squid Incidental Possession Limit in Effect

On Monday, July 9, 2012 the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced that 90% of the Trimester II loligo squid quota has been harvested, prompting the implementation of a 2,500 lb incidental loligo squid commercial trip limit for the remainder of Trimester II.  Trimester III is set to open in September 1, 2012.

Pursuant to 322 CMR 6.39(2), the Director of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) hereby declares that from July 10, 2012 through August 31, 2012 commercial fishermen shall not possess or land loligo squid in excess of 2,500 lbs per 24-hour day.
