Fish Passage and Habitat Restoration

Riverways serves as a liaison among agency and community stakeholders on a study for ecological restoration of the lower Neponset River, conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under authority provided by Section 206 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1996. Restoration alternatives for anadromous fish passage and aquatic habitat include engineered fishways, dam breaching, dam removal, and sluiceway modification alternatives at the Walter Baker and Tilestone-Hollingsworth Dams.

Please contact Tim Purinton at 617-626-1542 for the Preliminary Draft of the Army Corps of Engineers, New England District: Environmental Restoration Report and Environmental Assessment: Neponset River Fish Passage and Habitat Restoration Project, including the Tileston and Hollingsworth Dam and the Walter Baker Dam, 2/11/02
