Employee status changes can be submitted to DOR/CSE using your Massachusetts WebFile for Business (WFB) account. (Status changes for employees for whom you withhold child support and send it to DOR.)

If your company is currently withholding child support for an individual, and sending that child support to DOR, you can report employment status changes: layoffs, terminations, resignations, retirements, leaves of absence and workers' compensation claims via your WebFile for Business (WFB) account. Additionally, you can report new employment information for an employee leaving your employ. This reporting option can be found under the Reporting New Hire menu option.

Note: If you have employees for whom you withhold child support and send it to another state, you must report status changes to that state.

If you are not a registered WFB user

Employment status changes - layoffs, terminations, resignations, retirements, leaves of absence and workers' compensation claims - can be reported to our Employer Services Group by fax 617-887-7560

Your facsimile must include the following information:

  • Legal name and address of the business;
  • Federal employee identification number (EIN);
  • The employee's full name, Social Security number, and current address;
  • The status change effective date; and
  • Information on the change: layoff, termination, resignation, leave of absence, workers' compensation claim, etc.

If an employee status change is a result of retirement, new employment or workers' compensation claim you must include the following information:

  • Retirement
    • Claim number;
    • Name of entity paying retirement benefits;
    • Benefits entity address and phone number; and
    • Name and phone number of contact at entity paying benefits.
  • New employment information
    • Name of new employer; and
    • New employer's address and phone number.
  • Workers' compensation
    • Claim number;
    • Name of entity paying benefits;
    • Benefits entity address and phone number; and
    • Name and phone number of contact at entity paying benefits.
