Tax Practitioners: DOR wants to hear from you!

Before going directly to small businesses, DOR is asking practitioners to weigh in on their clients’ needs. DOR recently launched a CROWDSOURCING CHALLENGE with the Massachusetts Society of CPAs to get a conversation going with the experts. It’s so easy. You can give a thumbs up or thumbs down on other people’s ideas, add your own ideas, or comment on what colleagues have to say. REGISTRATION is simple, and you can login to see what’s being said at your convenience. Commissioner Pitter will take the most popular ideas and use them to bring about changes in the Department. The conversation is only open for a limited time, so JOIN TODAY!

Do you know a fraternal organization?

DOR has developed a new free e-learning course on the tax responsibilities for fraternal organizations.  These social organizations include the VFW, Sons of Italy, and Elks Club. Help get the word out to these organizations in your city and town and let them know about this one-stop tutorial. During the course, participants will learn what qualifies as a fraternal organization and its tax responsibilities. The course only takes about an hour including interactive learning assessments.  The best part is an option to take a quiz and with a passing grade, participants can print a certificate of understanding.  This e-learning course is available on DOR’s public webpage under the DOR University.
