Understanding Tax Penalties
DOR has developed a free e-learning course, Introduction to Penalties, covering topics associated with failing to comply with Massachusetts tax laws. The hour-long course includes information about the types of penalties, when they are applied, the difference between penalties and interest and when a penalty might be waived under Massachusetts General Law. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to answer multiple choice questions to check their knowledge. After completing the course, participants can play a game to assess their overall learning. With a passing score, participants can print a personalized certificate of completion. This e-learning course is available on DOR’s public webpage in the Online Courses Section.
