With MassTaxConnect, DOR’s newest filing system for Massachusetts taxpayers, previous Webfile for Income or Webfile for Business users can log in and start filing and paying taxes in the new system at www.mass.gov/masstaxconnect.
For former WebFile for Income or WebFile for Business users, this page provides you information and instructions on how to log in to MassTaxConnect for the first time. For those who have never used WebFile for Income or WebFile for Business, please scroll down to the bottom of this page for instructions on how to enroll.
How to log in to MassTaxConnect for the first time
- Use your Webfile for Income or Webfile for Business username and password
We’ve migrated over your previous username and password onto MassTax Connect. It’s that simple.
- Verify your identity with an authentication code
To verify it’s your account, a message will appear asking to send an authentication code to your email or via text message. Click on this box.
At this time, go to your email and wait for an email from us with your authentication code. Most appear within a couple of minutes, but some have taken longer. We recommend waiting at least 30-60 minutes in the event it doesn’t arrive immediately. Also, be sure to check your junk mail to see if it was filtered there.
Once you’ve received your authentication code, copy and paste it into the authentication box on MassTaxConnect. Or, from the email itself, use “click to login” to automatically populate the authentication code.
- “Trust” computers that you use to access MassTaxConnect
To avoid having to enter an authentication code every time you access MassTaxConnect, we recommend checking the box “Trust this computer” if logging in from your primary and personal computer.
- Log in!
You’re now ready to log in! Simply click login to start using MassTaxConnect. Be sure to check out our resource page and short how to tutorial videos to learn how to add an account, file taxes, pay a bill, and more.
- Enable Cookies
Please note that if you use security software you will want to enable cookies. If your security software clears cookies on a regular basis, you will be asked to provide a new authentication code each time you log in. If you have questions or concerns about this matter you can reach out to the provider for your computer’s security software.
Password or Username Issues
Forgot your password?
If you’ve forgotten your password, or it doesn’t seem to be working, click “forgot my password”. On the next screen, enter your username and click Reset Password. An email will be sent with a link to reset your password. After clicking the link, you will be asked your secret question. After answering your secret question, enter a new password. After saving your new password, you are taken to the login screen, where you can follow the login process shown above.

Click “forgot my username.” Select your ID type, enter your ID and email address. Click Submit and your username will be emailed to the address provided.
Enrollment instructions for new electronic filers
You have two options to log in to MassTaxConnect.
First, you can use your Taxpayer Credentials and "sign up" your business by simply providing a few pieces of information from a prior return like taxes owed or the amount of a refund.
Alternatively DOR is in the process of sending out paper letters to business taxpayers with their new and unique alphanumeric account ID and unique code for logging in. You can use your account ID and your unique code to enroll.
