The Community Software Consortium was formed to provide a flexible, responsive means for communities using the DOR CAMA and Tax Administration software to fund, specify, and contract for future enhancements to the system as well as to migrate to new technologies as appropriate. The Department of Revenue continues to support and train local assessors and collectors using the system, and the DOR continues to maintain the base system. The underlying goal of the CAMA program, from the beginning, has been to increase local self-reliance and professionalism in valuing property and administering tax and billing systems. By encouraging communities to assume 'ownership' of future enhancements, the DOR is promoting that goal of self-sufficiency. As of this date, 74 communities are members of the Consortium.
