Provide general-purpose financial assistance to municipalities on an equalizing basis.
How were the estimates determined?
The Lottery formula is equalizing, with municipalities with lower property values receiving proportionately more aid than those with greater property values. The formula is based on population and Equalized Property Valuation.
These estimates come from the detailed allocation in Outside Section 3 of each version of the budget.
The amount of Lottery aid allocated in section three of the Governor's budget proposal represents an increase of $158 million over the prior years Cherry Sheet level. The Governor's Budget proposal is recommending a 100% "uncapping" of the Lottery aid, eliminating the 5 year phase in schedule.
Why did the estimates change?
Estimates may vary from each budget proposal based on the appropriation provided to fund the Lottery program.
