The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) and the Statewide Emergency Telecommunications Board (SETB) are pleased to announce the availability of the FY 2009 SETB Training Grant.
Through this program, governmental entities hosting primary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) are eligible to receive reimbursement for training-related costs associated with the

September Public Safety Communications Academies (PSCA) and Module Courses Announced
The SETB is please to announce the commencement of three PSCAs beginning September 8, 2008 as well as various module courses. For locations and more information please click here
VIXXI VoIP Invoice
VIXXI Solutions, a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service provider, has recently sent a letter and invoice to many Massachusetts Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) requesting reimbursement for providing E9-1-1 services to their customers. Please disregard any invoices sent from VIXXI Solutions for E9-1-1 services and forward a copy of such invoices to the SETB.
The SETB will be contacting VIXXI Solutions directly to inform them that we are the point of contact for this and all future correspondence for matters related to E9-1-1.

Dramatic 911 call rescues five-month-old baby
CHELSEA, Mass. -- A 911 operator became a hero Sunday when a mom called, scared her five-month-old baby was dead.
According to Paul Koolloian, the mom said "the baby wasn't breathing. I found after that it had something to do with the shower or bathtub."

New Public Education Tool Available for PSAPs
The SETB has created a new education tool that is available for PSAPs to use as part of their community outreach programs. The 9-1-1 Tips and Contact Information Card
can be found in the Public Education section of our website. This card can be customize with local non-emergency contact information and be reproduce by our PSAPs.
State Police are Eliminating *SP and *MSP:
Remind Motorists "9-1-1 SAVES LIVES"
The Massachusetts State Police and the SETB would like to remind motorists to dial 9-1-1 for all roadway emergencies. This is a fundamental cornerstone to ensuring a prompt emergency response of police, fire or EMS personnel. When you dial 9-1-1 on your wireless phone, vital information is presented to State Police dispatch personnel, including your approximate location. The dispatchers assess the information and notify the appropriate State Police barracks or the local authorities of jurisdiction.
