Governor Patrick to Host Education Summit on November 9th

BOSTON – November 1, 2011 – Governor Deval Patrick will outline his second term education priorities during an Education Summit on Wednesday, November 9th at UMass Boston.  The Governor will highlight progress made to date in closing achievement gaps among Massachusetts students and lay out key strategies aimed at building a 21st Century education system across the state to ensure that all students are prepared for success in a global economy.

Following the Governor’s remarks, the Boards of Early Education and Care, Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, and the University of Massachusetts will participate jointly in three breakout sessions focused on Student Supports, College and Career Readiness and Teacher Quality.  These sessions, informed by the Governor’s message to each of the Boards, will catalyze the collective work of the education sector over the next year and beyond.
