Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) Pilot and Next Steps

In March 2010, EEC launched the MA QRIS Pilot as an opportunity for any interested program to engage in the early version of the QRIS, of which 850 programs across the state and from diverse program types participated. The Pilot will allow EEC to learn more about how the QRIS rating process works for programs and what changes the Department can make prior to full implementation in FY2011 to make the QRIS an effective tool for improving program quality. EEC is currently working with an Evaluator to gather data regarding the evidence base of each QRIS Standard and documentation requirement and engaging Pilot participants and interested stakeholders in providing feedback regarding the Provisional Standards (September - December 2010) and other key components of the FY2010 Provisional System. EEC anticipates releasing the updated QRIS System (with updated Standards, Measures and Documentation requirements) in January 2011.
