FY2013 Universal Pre-Kindergarten Grant

Grant Description & Purpose:

EEC is pleased to announce the FY2013 Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Grant Application Request for Response (RFR).  The purpose of UPK is to support and enhance the quality of services for children in UPK classrooms, especially for low-income children and/or children living in underperforming school districts, as well as promote school readiness and positive outcomes for children participating in UPK classrooms and homes.  Responses to this Grant Application (RFR) are due to EEC by 4:00 PM on May 30, 2012 (Updated).  Please see the Grant Application (RFR) for a timeline of additional dates relevant to responding to this Grant Application (RFR).

Eligible Applicants:

Vendors who received grants awards through the statewide FY2012 UPK Grant Application are eligible to apply for these funds.

FY13 Universal Pre-Kindergarten RFR Amended  as 6/29/2012  ( Original FY13 UPK RFR Document  )

The amended language concerns the Funding Exemption for UPK and is located on p. 9 of the RFR.  Specifically, criterion #4 of the Funding Exemption was changed FROM “… The teacher(s) affected must have at least a two year tenure at the program …” TO “… A Bachelor’s teacher must have taught in the program for at least two years.  If one of the Bachelor’s teachers leaves a preschool classroom at the time of the FY2013 renewal application, the program must demonstrate that it has replaced that teacher with a new teacher that also possesses a Bachelor’s degree …”

• Eligible Populations for the Amended Funding Exemption:
  • Those FY12 UPK grantees that did not apply to the FY13 RFR.
  • Those grantees who applied but did not seek funding exemption.

Application Submission Information:

All required documents, including electronic workbook, proposal narrative, attachments, and fiscal forms must be received at EEC’s Central Office by 4:00 PM on May 30, 2012 (Updated).
